I sand in all my deposits and can not understand for the life of me why people think it's so hard to take care of - it's so damn easy!
Advantages:

Personally, I think it just looks better. I watch many years of gravel and sand is more difficult to clean and thereby avoid one. I have recently planted tank and I sand. I am surprised to see how much I love Pebbles!
